A new wave of riots swept through American cities after Donald Trump threatened to use the army.
This is reported on Tuesday, May 2, by the Associated Press.
According to media reports, in New York, “peaceful demonstrations” were accompanied by pogroms that reached elite areas of Manhattan. Protesters smashed windows near the Rockefeller Center.
“Next time, before thinking about trying to kill another black guy, they will think and say: “Damn, we don’t want them to do it here again”, – a New Yorker Sean Jones, who, according to media reports, watched people search luxury shops in the chic Soho district of Manhattan, commented on the situation.
In Philadelphia, hundreds of protesters protest in the city center, in Atlanta, police dispersed the protesters with tear gas, and two people died in protests in Chicago. At the same time, in Minneapolis, where the unrest began, the situation is stabilizing.
According to the Associated Press, police have already arrested more than 5.6 thousand people across the country. The leader in the arrests was Los Angeles, where 931 people were detained. 790 protesters were arrested in New York, and 511 were arrested in Houston.
As News Front previously reported, riots have not subsided in the United States since last week. Uprising began in Minneapolis, where a policeman killed African-American George Floyd. The man was detained on suspicion of forging a check for $ 20. During the arrest, the policeman began to press his knee on Floyd’s neck. He said that he had nothing to breathe, but the policeman did not listen. As a result, the detainee died.
The incident led to protests that swept the whole country in a few days. Pogroms are recorded in large cities, including New York and Washington. US President Donald Trump, in turn, does not exclude the possibility that the protests will be suppressed with the help of federal troops.
