Foreign Ministry responds to allegations of Russia’s involvement in the riots in US

Allegations of Russia’s involvement in the unrest in the United States are groundless and constitute dirty methods and manipulation of information,  the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova wrote on Facebook.

Ex-adviser to the US President on national security, Susan Rice, said earlier that Russia could stand behind the violence during protests in the United States. Rice did not cite any evidence or concrete facts.

Addressing Rice, Zakharova noted that former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the entire team of former US President Barack Obama “convinced themselves and tried to convince the whole world that the US’s internal problems are created and exacerbated by someone from outside, namely Russia”.

“You are trying to repeat this mistake today, resorting to CNN journalist to dirty methods of information manipulation: fake statements and zero facts to support them. Your CNN interview is propaganda”, – wrote Zakharova.

She recalled that the social networks that Rice believes are used to foment protests are registered and legally regulated from the United States and belong to the Americans.

“Are you trying to play the Russian card again? You played too much, go back to reality. Go out to your people and, looking into their eyes, say that they are controlled by Russians through Youtube and Facebook. And I will look at the American exceptionalism in action”, – Zakharova added.
