The US, accusing Moscow of involvement in organizing protests in America, is preparing an information attack on Russia, said Konstantin Kosachev, head of the international committee of the Federation Council.
Earlier, Susan Rice, former presidential adviser to the US national security agency, said Russia could stand behind the violence during protests in the United States. However, she did not provide any evidence or specific facts.
“This is about another information attack on Russia, which, perhaps, if it is not being prepared by official Washington, but by those forces and people in the American establishment who, by any possible and impossible means, are trying to approve the thesis about Russia’s responsibility for all the problems that the USA is facing both in internal and external development”, – Kosachev said on Monday on the Russia 24 television channel.
Moscow has never interfered in what is happening in America and is not going to intervene now. The Kremlin is carefully watching the unrest in the United States and considering what is happening as their internal affair, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the reporters earlier.
A wave of protests and riots swept through the cities of the United States after the death of African-American George Floyd at the hands of the police. One of the policemen who kneeled on Floyd’s neck during the arrest was accused of negligence. In Minneapolis, large-scale demonstrations continued on Sunday. In Washington, from 23:00 local time (6:00 Moscow time on Monday), a curfew was announced.
