According to the German Die Welt, the United States is doing everything possible to prevent the Nord Stream 2 project, and Germany has become a hostage to this situation.
The US Congress is now discussing the need for new sanctions against SP-2. Republican senator Ted Cruz and Democratic senator Gene Shahin are particularly active in lobbying for them. The German newspaper believes that Washington’s pressure on the fact that Berlin supports the construction of the Russian gas pipeline will not stop.
“The German government understands all the risks, but continues to consider Nord Stream 2 as a very important project for all European security, and calls the restrictions on the part of the United States contrary to international law,” writes Die Welt.
Recall that two Russian vessels – Academician Chersky and Fortuna – intend to complete the construction of the gas pipeline by early fall.
