In 2019, Rosatom and the US Department of Energy reached an agreement on the control of nuclear materials for reprocessing in Russia.
According to RIA Novosti with reference to the annual report of Atomenergoprom JSC, Russia and the United States represented by Rosatom and the US Department of Energy respectively signed a document regulating waste management at Rosatom enterprises.
“In accordance with the framework” intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the peaceful uses of atomic energy, the parties signed a document that establishes the procedure for accounting and control of nuclear materials to be processed in Russia under contracts with third countries, in particular in the interests of American customers,” message.
