Polish professor ventured to tell students the truth about Russophobia: What came of it

In Poland, they prefer to see in Russia exclusively a threat due to the “historical complex”.

Polish professor ventured to tell students the truth about Russophobia: What came of it

This is stated in the textbook on international security, which was used by the Jagiellonian University. The author of the textbook is Professor Richard Zembu.

He questioned the strategic alliance with the United States. In addition, Zembu justified Polish Russophobia, which, according to him, is a consequence of “extracting incomplete conclusions from observations of changes in the international system.” The professor emphasizes that there is no real reason to see Russia as a threat to Polish security.

“Polish politicians very often fall into such a state of obsession, attributing to Russia hostile intentions towards their neighbors,” the professor writes. “History cannot be changed, and interpretations made by politicians do not serve to normalize and form neighborly cooperation.”

The reaction to an objective, but objectionable position was a complaint from a university student Agatha Supinskaya. The indignation was also supported by the ex-Minister of Defense of Poland Romuald Sheremetyev, calling the works of Zembu “scandalous and harmful nonsense.”
