The EU calls on US authorities to reconsider the decision to terminate relations with the World Health Organization. This is stated in a joint statement by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrell.
“In the face of the pandemic, it is time to expand cooperation and come up with common solutions. Avoid activities that weaken international results. In this context, we urge the United States to reconsider its announced decision, ” the statement said.
The document states that “WHO should continue to be able to lead international efforts to combat pandemics, both current and future.”
“This requires the participation and support of all parties, and this is very important. The European Union continues to support WHO in this regard and has already provided additional funding, ”summed up European politicians.
