Three days of rioting in Minneapolis do not subside after a local policeman killed an African American.
During the arrest, the policeman began to put a knee on the neck of George Floyd, who was detained on suspicion of forging a check for $20. Floyd said that he had nothing to breathe, but the policeman did not listen. As a result, the detainee died. Four policemen involved in the killing were fired, but this did not stop the wave of unrest that swept the city.
According to the Associated Press, last night an angry mob made it to the police station. Protesters surrounded the building, after which the police began to shoot people with rubber bullets, also using tear gas. This made the crowd retreat, but only for a while. Later, protesters stormed the building and set it on fire. Law enforcement officers had to flee.
Earlier, the Governor of Minnesota connected the National Guard to riot control, whose fighters, however, were not seen at the pogroms either in Minneapolis or in neighboring St. Paul, where protests also broke out. Even firemen did not come to extinguish the flames at the police station. As noted later in the fire department, the employees simply could not ensure safety.
Although the National Guard claimed that it took more than five hundred security officials to the streets, they were not seen at the epicenter of the riots.
