Anti-Semitic crimes become commonplace in Germany

The number of crimes committed by right-wing extremists is growing and spoiling the picture of the “free and democratic basic order” of Germany.

This was announced by the Minister of the Interior of Germany Horst Seehofer.

According to him, the number of anti-Semitic crimes in Germany over the past year increased to 2032, which is 13% more than a year earlier. The official stressed that the greatest threat comes from right-wing extremists responsible for 93% of crimes against the Jewish population. At the same time, Muslim anti-Semitism also increased in Germany, which Seehofer ignored.

“Every day we must do our best to protect our people. To do this, we need a strong state based on our free and democratic basic order”, – the Minister said.

Josef Schuster, head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, also commented on the situation. According to him, the coronavirus pandemic only increased anti-Semitic sentiment.

“Anti-Semitism has become commonplace for Jews in Germany. Unbridled hatred strikes us especially on the Internet. But Jewish rejection is also a serious problem in the streets and in schools”, – he says. “Supporters of conspiracy myths and anti-pandemic do not even shy away from the relativization of the Holocaust”.
