The US administration continues to consider the possibility of imposing sanctions under the CAATSA law (On Countering America’s Adversaries through Sanctions) against Turkey for its acquisition of the S-400 air defense system from Russia. This was announced by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Palmer.
“With regard to sanctions under the CAATSA, the US administration continues a deliberate process of discussion. I can not announce the possible results of this process. We remain deeply concerned about the acquisition and possible implementation of the S-400 air defense system. We continue the dialogue with our Turkish partners about our concern, as well as ways to eliminate this concern, which, we hope, will go to Turkey, ” the diplomat said.
