The spokeswoman for the German Foreign Ministry, Maria Adebar, said that at present, untwisting the sanctions spiral with respect to the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was untimely.
“As for sanctions, they said yesterday, I can repeat: from our point of view, now is the wrong time to unwind the escalation spiral and threaten further sanctions, we have other problems,” RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.
Earlier, US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell allowed the imminent imposition of US sanctions against Nord Stream 2.
The operator of the Nord Stream 2 reacted to US threats with sanctions.
