CSTO will train its peacekeepers

CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas informed that the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) plans to train its peacekeeping forces on the basis of centers in Russia or Kazakhstan.

“We set ourselves the task of creating a unified base for the training of peacekeeping forces as a whole and, in particular, training peacekeepers for the UN. Where it will be – different options are considered. We have ready-made centers for the training of peacekeepers in both Russia and Kazakhstan. Here, military specialists must say their word, ” TASS quoted him as saying.

Zas also noted that the decision to choose a base center for the training of peacekeeping units according to UN standards will be made before the end of the year.

“This year we set ourselves the goal of completing all legal revisions so that as early as next year we can begin to take practical steps (on peacekeeping activities),” the Secretary General said.
