Biden called Trump “a total fool”

This statement by the former vice president is linked to the American leader’s ridicule of those wearing masks because of the pandemic.

Former Vice President Joseph Biden, who is seeking a Democratic candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, harshly criticized the current leader, Donald Trump, in an interview with CNN on Tuesday for mocking those who wear masks because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The journalist asked Biden to comment on the fact that Trump is not always wearing a protective mask in public places. As she recalled, the U.S. president quoted a Twitter post that disdained Biden wearing the mask at the Memorial Day ceremony. It was celebrated in the United States on Monday.

“He’s a fool, a complete fool because he says that”, –  Biden said. All leading experts, he said, “say you should wear a mask when you’re in the crowd. Trump, trying to show “false masculinity”, is setting a bad example and “people are paying for it with their lives”,  Biden said.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Trump said he did not criticise Biden for wearing the mask. However, as the U.S. president noted, it “seemed unusual” to him that Biden wore a mask, although only his wife was next to him. During this press conference, Trump also suggested that one of the journalists remove the mask because it allegedly prevented him from hearing the question. In response to the journalist’s refusal, Trump said: “All right, you want political correctness.”

The National Congress of the Democratic Party of the USA, at which Biden is expected to be named as a candidate for the highest state post in the country, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic to August 17-20. It will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 59th US presidential election is scheduled for November 3.

According to Johns Hopkins University, which carries out calculations based on information from federal and local authorities, the U.S. recorded more than 1.68 million cases of infection with coronavirus, more than 98.8 thousand people died. Since the beginning of the pandemic, about 5.4 million people worldwide have been infected with coronavirus, and more than 340,000 have died.
