The American administration is interested in continuing the armed conflict in the Donbass, and the Kiev authorities can not ignore this.
This was told by political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky in a commentary to the TVC channel.
“I see no prospects for resolving the conflict in the Donbass at the moment, given the dependence of today’s authorities on American interests”, – the expert says.
According to him, if the Ukrainian elites would want to resolve the conflict, then for a start they would have to overcome the demands of Washington, which does not need peace in the Donbass.
“The American interest is to prevent Ukraine from rapprochement with Europe. So they keep the situation under control”, – Pogrebinsky explains.
In addition, he continues, Zelensky’s administration needs to resolve the issue of an “active minority”, which will boycott any steps toward compromise.
