Together with other interested countries, Germany intends to put pressure on the US administration to force it to “rethink its decision” on the benefits of the Open Skies Treaty.
This statement was made by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
He noted that the withdrawal of the United States from the agreement “significantly reduces the scope of its use.”
“The decision of the US government comes into force in six months, and during this period we will intensively work with our like-minded people, so that the US government rethinks its decision,” the official said.
According to him, Washington’s decision cannot be justified by accusations against Russia. The minister stressed that he had already given this to the head of the US State Department Michael Pompeo.
