Foreign Ministers of 10 EU countries regret US decision to withdraw from the Treaty on Open Skies

Foreign Ministers of 10 EU countries regret the U.S. intention to withdraw from the Treaty on Open Skies, but are concerned about how Russia is implementing the provisions of this agreement. Foreign Ministers of Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Sweden made a joint statement to this effect.

“We regret the announced intention of the U.S. government to withdraw from the Treaty on Open Skies, although we share their concern about Russia’s compliance with the provisions of the Treaty”, –  said a document circulated by the press service of the German Foreign Ministry on Friday.

The Russian side has repeatedly rejected the allegations of allegedly deadly treaty violations. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov, the U.S. itself is a gross violator.
