Verkhovna Rada deputy Irina Vereshchuk stated the need to create a commission to investigate the released audio recordings, which allegedly featured the voices of former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and ex-vice president Joe Biden.
“We see films that may indicate that Poroshenko was under external influence when he coordinated actions that had catastrophic consequences for the whole society”, – “STRANA. ua” quotes the MP.
According to her, “it is necessary to initiate the creation of a temporary investigative commission for control”.
“And we, of course, count on the immediate response of law enforcement agencies, because it is a megascandal”, – she added.
According to the publication, earlier Ukrainian deputy Andriy Derkach during a press conference published “records of telephone conversations” of Poroshenko and Biden, as well as former Secretary of State John Kerry.
“Today we will unveil recordings of telephone conversations with voices similar to those of Petro Poroshenko and Joseph Biden, testifying to the facts of international corruption and state treason at the highest state level”, – Derkach said at the beginning of the press conference.
According to him, these notes were transmitted by investigative journalists who said that they were made personally by Poroshenko.
During the press conference, several fragments of audio recordings were demonstrated, one of which concerned the dismissal of Viktor Shokin from the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine in 2016, allegedly at the request of Biden. In exchange for this, he allegedly promised Poroshenko to allocate $1 billion to Ukraine.
Also, as noted, Poroshenko and Biden allegedly discussed the candidacy of Yuriy Lutsenko, who was subsequently appointed by the prosecutor general.
In addition, the parties allegedly discussed PrivatBank. In particular, Biden advised his nationalization as soon as possible.
In the fall of 2019, the White House published a transcript of a telephone conversation between the presidents of the United States and Ukraine, Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky, during which the Ukrainian leader promised that the new prosecutor general of Ukraine would study the situation with the son of former US vice president Joe Biden.
In October, Zelensky said he did not see the corruption component and the violation of the law in Trump’s request for an investigation into Biden and his son.
Trump claimed that Biden’s son received money from Ukraine and China.
