On May 9, a cyber attack on computers in the Iranian port of Shahid Rajai (in the city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran) caused massive disruptions on waterways and roads leading to the transport facility of the Islamic Republic.
Citing unnamed U.S. officials and sources in foreign governments, The Washington Post indicates that it was Israel that launched a cyber attack on computers in the Iranian port of Shahid Rajai earlier this month.
“The destruction of the Iranian computer network on May 9 was probably in response to Iran’s earlier attempt at a cyber attack on water distribution systems in Israel,” the American publication wrote.
Mohammad Rastad, managing director of the Iranian port and maritime organization, told the Iranian news agency ILNA last week that the cyber attack, which Israel allegedly was behind, “didn’t penetrate the organization’s computers and could only damage a number of private operating systems.”
