The coronavirus pandemic could put an end to American hegemony, which has continued since the Cold War.
This was told by Kadir Ustyun, the chief coordinator of the office of the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Studies of Turkey in Washington.
According to him, given the economic damage caused by the epidemic to the United States, they are highly likely to force the US administration to revise foreign policy. In particular, this may affect the US military presence in other regions, including the Middle East. Ustyun drew parallels with the decision of Great Britain, which, against the backdrop of the economic crisis in 1967, decided to withdraw troops from Bahrain, Yemen, and Malaysia.
A special issue for Ankara is Washington’s financing of armed groups in Syria, including Kurdish gangs recognized by Turkey as terrorist.
