The U.S. State Department plans to address the social problems of Ukrainian society by developing “serious games”.
In the hands of RTpo journalists fell a document of the U.S. State Department handed over to the Kyiv embassy, according to which it is planned to recruit about 50 professional and beginner developers from Ukraine and organize for them a seminar on social issues, during which the participants will start working on “serious games”. The tutors will be specialists from Ukraine and the United States, including representatives of American video game companies.
“The main strategic goals are to strengthen business relations between the United States and Ukraine by providing a transparent platform for cooperation, creating better conditions for business, and solving social problems of Ukraine by developing “serious games”, – the document says.
The U.S. State Department intends to hold a seminar in the first week of September, before the Comic Con Ukraine festival. In addition, on the eve of the festival there should be a “game-game” – a competition of developers on high-speed development of new games. It is expected that its participants will be able to present their ideas to potential investors during Comic Con Ukraine. The State Department will allocate up to $100 thousand for the whole project.
As a reminder, in February, Washington announced plans to implement programs in Ukraine that would allow “expanding the dialogue taking place within the Ukrainian audience” on political and social issues that are important in the context of the “Euro-Atlantic development vector” of the state.
