Erdogan and Putin had a telephone conversation

The sides discussed bilateral relations and regional topics, including the situation in Syria, as well as opportunities for cooperation in combating the coronavirus.

Turkish and Russian Presidents Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations on Monday to discuss opportunities for cooperation in combating the spread of a new type of coronavirus. This was reported to journalists in the office of the Turkish leader.

“During the talks held today at 14:30 discussed the possibility of cooperation in combating the new type of coronavirus and the steps to be taken after the epidemic. Bilateral relations and regional issues, including Syria, were also discussed”, –  the circulated communiqué says.

The outbreak of Coronavirus disease was recorded in late 2019 in Central China and subsequently spread to most countries. On 11 March, it was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. According to the latest data, about 4.5 million people in the world were infected with Coronavirus and more than 305 thousand died.
