UN for the United States is not a decree: Americans will extend the embargo on Iran in any situation

The United States will use all possible tools to achieve an extension of the arms embargo to Iran if the UN Security Council vetoes the relevant US draft resolution.

UN for the United States is not a decree: Americans will extend the embargo on Iran in any situation

The US Special Representative for Iran on Iran, Brian Hook, said that the United States will seek to extend the arms embargo to Iran, even bypassing the UN Security Council decision.

“The arms embargo on the Iranian regime expires in October. It was introduced by the UN Security Council, but it is planned that it will be terminated due to the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran. This will allow the world’s largest sponsor state of terrorism and anti-Semitism to freely import and export combat aircraft, warships, submarines and guided missiles. To prevent this, the Security Council must adopt a resolution to extend the arms embargo. If this attempt is vetoed, the Trump administration is ready to use all the legally available options to extend the embargo, ” the Hook article in the Wall Street Journal says.

As reported, Washington has already prepared a draft Security Council resolution on the preservation of the embargo.

“One way or another, the United States will ensure that it remains in force against the violent and revolutionary regime in Tehran.”
