Head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija: the Kosovo issue must be resolved by Serbs and Albanians

Opponents of the Kosovo and Metohija issue, according to Marco Djuris, are those who want a zone of long-term instability and frozen conflict in the Balkans.

The Kosovo and Metohija issue would be dealt with much more successfully if Serbs and Albanians did so without outside interference. This was stated in an interview with TASS by Marko Djuris, the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija and Deputy President Aleksandar Vucic of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.

“Any decision on Kosovo and Metohija that is not long-term and sustainable would lead to a new conflict in the near or distant future. For all those who do not want new conflicts, therefore, a long-term and sustainable solution is a goal and has no alternative. President Vucic has long insisted that only our two peoples can come up with a better solution to the reconciliation and resolution of the differences between the Serbian and Albanian peoples, and I sincerely hope that we will move towards such a solution. I see the importance to the future progress of both Serbia and its surroundings in the fact that President Vucic has updated broad regional cooperation and maximized the Balkans to the Balkan peoples. Either everyone will be satisfied with the decision in the Balkans, or rather equally dissatisfied, or there will be no decision at all”, –  Djurisic said.

“Opponents of the Kosovo and Metohija solution are those who want to have a zone of long-term instability and frozen conflict in the Balkans, which can be unfrozen if necessary, depending on individual geopolitical interests. Anyone who sincerely wants the stability and prosperity of society in the Balkans must accept the fact that the deep historical and ethnic problems in the region need to be addressed in atypical ways. This implies that all solutions must be on the table. I am sure that if the European forces that supported NATO aggression and the creation of a fake Kosovo state in our southern autonomous province had accepted the will of the Balkan peoples and given them [the opportunity] to freely resolve their problems, the solution would have been closer than it is today. Today is a long way from a solution”, – says the politician.
