Lavrov commented on the situation with coronavirus in the EU

Russian officials have never made statements that the EU is unable to deal with the pandemic, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.

“I do not recall a single statement by Russian officials that the EU was somehow inadequate to cope with the pandemic”, – Lavrov said at a press conference following a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CMFA) of CIS countries, commenting on the situation with the spread of coronavirus.

As the Russian minister noted, Moscow is “in solidarity with the European Union, as with all other countries”.

“We provide assistance to EU countries that are interested in this assistance. And we accept assistance from foreign countries”, – Lavrov recalled.

On March 11, the World Health Organization announced an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection with COVID-19 pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than 4 million cases of infection have been recorded in the world, over 278 thousand people have died.
