Forty-year record of anti-Semitic terror recorded in USA

Jews living in the USA over the past year have been victims of incidents, the total number of which was higher than in any other over the past four decades.

This is reporterd on Tuesday, May 12, by the agency “Associated Press”, with reference to data from human rights defenders.

So, in 2019, more than 2.1 thousand anti-Semitic incidents were recorded, among which over 1.1 thousand were prosecutions, 919 acts of vandalism and 61 cases of physical attack. Moreover, fatal attacks were recorded: an attack on a Jewish grocery store in New Jersey and a California synagogue.

According to published data, more than 50% of attacks occurred in New York. Eight of them were recorded during an eight-day period in December. Various objects were thrown at Jews, shouting anti-Semitic insults, three were severely beaten – they had head injuries.

Such indicators are 12% higher than in 2018, and the highest since 1979.

The Head of the Jewish Civil Rights Group, Jonathan Greenblatt, believes that in 2020 the situation is unlikely to change for the better, because the coronavirus pandemic gives rise to many anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
