If labour migrants are not granted an extension of their work permits in Estonia, the transport company Frigohans OÜ will not be able to perform its strategic function – international transport of products and medicines.
This is reported by the company’s management.
Frigohans OÜ has now applied to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, complaining that some foreign drivers’ short-term work permits and visas have expired. As a result, the workers had to leave the republic. According to Ingrid Lacht, it is simply impossible to find drivers with the necessary qualifications among Estonians.
“If the workers can no longer return, the company will simply not be able to supply food and medicine to the European Union. Moreover, some of the trucks will be idle, because it is impossible to find new employees in Estonia”, – explained Lakht.
Frigohans OÜ currently has 30 trucks and 44 employees. Some of them are Belarusians and Ukrainians with short-term visas.
