Moscow proposed Washington to extend Treaty on RL SPA-3 for five years

On Monday, May 11, said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov in a comment to the TASS news agency.

According to the politician, five years should be enough for the parties to be able to improve arms control mechanisms.

“We believe that the START Treaty, which has reliably ensured predictability in the field of nuclear missile weapons for a decade, deserves to be extended for a five-year period, during which it may be possible to develop a new or improve the existing arms control mechanism,” – said Ryabkov.

At the same time, the diplomat admitted that Russia has not yet observed the readiness of the American side to “respond positively to the call to extend the contract.”
