Former Minister of the Interior of Germany, member of the Free Democratic Party, lawyer, public figure in the field of human rights protection Gerhart Baum urged to remember that it was the Soviet soldiers who liberated Berlin and Germany from the Nazis.
He emphasized that modern democracy can be convincing only if the sacrifice of the Soviet people is not forgotten. Modern tales that under the Nazis in Germany were not so bad and what some call Germans victims, he called dangerous.
Baum noted that it is necessary to pass on the memory to young generations.
