U.S. intelligence agencies are tightening control over Chinese journalists

The American administration is introducing new rules for journalists from China to stay in the United States.

This was reported by the agency “Reuters” on Saturday, May 9.

As noted in the media, the decision was taken against the backdrop of escalating tensions between the Powers due to the attempts of Washington to place responsibility for the Coronavirus pandemic on China.
The new rules will come into force on Monday, limiting the period of stay of Chinese journalists in the U.S. to a ninety-day period with the possibility of extension.

A senior Department of Homeland Security official, whose name the agency did not disclose, said the new rules would allow the agency “to review visa applications from Chinese journalists more frequently and would likely reduce the total number of Chinese journalists in the United States.
The new Department of Homeland Security regulations will not apply to journalists from Hong Kong or Macau, media reported.
