It is unacceptable to be naive and think that nuclear warheads will not be useful.
This was told by Hu Jin, a Chinese journalist and editor-in-chief of the Global Times.
According to him, China urgently needs to build up its nuclear arsenal in case of a retaliatory strike against the United States. Calling the Chinese “a peace-loving nation that has promised never to use nuclear weapons first”, the journalist admitted that such an arsenal is needed to “curb the strategic ambitions of the United States”.
At the same time, he stressed that nuclear weapons are used almost every day.
“Stop being naive. Stop thinking that there’s no need for nuclear warheads. In reality, they are used daily as a deterrent in shaping the attitude of the American elite towards China. Some Chinese experts argue that we do not need to expand our nuclear arsenal. I think they are childishly naive”, – said Hu Jin.
