The US President Donald Trump is interested in dialogue with Russia, a breakthrough in relations with Moscow could become a trump card for him in domestic politics, Senator Oleg Morozov told the reporters on Friday.
Earlier, Trump expressed his readiness to negotiate with the Russian Federation on arms control issues.
“I think Trump himself is really looking for a dialogue with us. He has a difficult situation – he cannot be more Russophobe than his opponents. And by indulging him, he only weakens his position”, – the politician said.
Conversely, a breakthrough in relations with Russia could become a trump card for him in the eyes of ordinary Americans, who intuitively understand the danger of endless confrontation, he added.
“Let’s hope that this signal has good reason”, – Morozov concluded.
