Japanese Cabinet Secretary General Yoshihide Suga noted that the Heads of State agreed to continue close cooperation on the development of medicines and vaccine against coronavirus.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation on Friday to discuss the situation around the new coronavirus. This was announced to journalists at a regular press conference by Japanese Cabinet Secretary General Yoshihide Suga.
“There was a 45-minute conversation between Prime Minister [Shinzo] Abe and President [Donald] Trump. The heads of state discussed the situation around coronavirus and agreed to continue close cooperation on the development of drugs and a vaccine against coronavirus”, – Suga said.
The last time the Japanese Prime Minister and the US President spoke by phone was in March when they discussed the issue of next year’s postponement due to the pandemic of the Tokyo Olympic Games.
An outbreak of the new coronavirus disease was recorded in late 2019 in Central China, spread to most countries and was recognized by WHO as a pandemic.
