The action took place near the Bundestag building, which houses the plenary session hall.
According to the dpa agency, the man ran out of the crowd, tried to attack the sound engineer’s assistant and hit the microphone stand, which hit the operator.
According to the police, the 46-year-old attacker then attempted to flee the scene, but was promptly detained by law enforcement. The perpetrator’s motives are unclear.
