The Venice Commission rejected the request from Kosovo

The members of the commission refused to consider the request of the so-called Kosovo government regarding the legality of the action of the current head of the unrecognized republic, Hashim Thaci.

According to the Albanian news agency Telegrafi, a request was sent to the commission after the publication on 29 April of the decree of the so-called president of Kosovo Hashim Thaci to transfer the mandate for the formation of the government of Kosovo to the candidate of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, bypassing the elections.

The Commission did not even begin to consider the substance of the issue and simply encouraged politicians to wait for the decision of the so-called Constitutional Court of Kosovo, which had previously accepted the request of the Movement for Self-Determination to examine the constitutionality of the Thaci decree to transfer the right to form a new party government bypassing the elections and decided to suspend the presidential decree until 29 May as an interim measure pending a final decision.
