Pentagon said the U.S. is concerned about Iran’s missile technology

As noted by the U.S. military department, a military satellite launched by the Republic into space does not cause such anxiety.

The military satellite launched by Iran into space does not cause much concern for the U.S. authorities in terms of national security, but they are concerned about the very development of missile technology by Tehran. This was stated on Tuesday at a briefing at the Pentagon by the chairman of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Millie.

“We are not much concerned about the satellite itself, but missile technology <…> and the lessons learned from it are worrying because different missiles can perform different tasks. One can launch a satellite and the other can carry some kind of device that can explode”, –  he said.

Previously, the U.S., UK and France had expressed condemnation and concern about Iran`s military satellite launch. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran is not doing anything that would contradict UN Security Council Resolution 2231 on Iran’s nuclear issue, while the U.S. and Europe are not complying with its terms. According to him, Tehran does not violate the terms of the resolution because “Iran has neither nuclear weapons nor missiles that can carry [a nuclear charge].

On April 22 Iran launched its first military satellite called Noor. According to the Mehr agency, the satellite was put into orbit at an altitude of 425 km using a Qased launch vehicle.
