He said Chisinau needs consolidation of the Moldovan society.
The President of Moldova Igor Dodon in his exclusive interview to the First Deputy Director General of TASS, Mihail Guzman, did not rule out that he might take part in the presidential elections in the country again, scheduled for this autumn.
Dodon admitted that his three and a half years as president were very difficult.
“I think it’s one of the main merits that we got rid of the oligarchic regime”, – he said. – “The important result was that we began to conduct a balanced foreign policy. Even against the background of the agreements that we have signed with the European Union, we managed to obtain observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union.”
According to him, Chisinau needs consolidation of the Moldovan society, within which there are still divisions, as well as “more results on the Transdniestrian settlement”. “I think that Moldova will be a stronger state in general if we solve this problem, if we unite,” Dodon said. – For this reason, it is worth once again participating in the presidential election and winning, in order to move in this direction”.
The Moldovan president also said that the elections are planned from October 23 to November 23. “We have not yet made official decisions [on participation in the elections], there is still time”, – he said. – Now we have the main task – to cope with the pandemic and to deal with the economic crisis. And closer to the elections, we will be determined.
