Vucic said that parliamentary elections in Serbia will be held on 14 or 21 June

The election campaign is expected to resume following the lifting of the state of emergency in the country from 7 May.

Elections to the Serbian Parliament will be held on 14 or 21 June, in accordance with the Constitution. This was announced on Sunday by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on the air of the Pink TV channel.

“The elections will be held in accordance with the legal deadlines – June 14 or 21,” said the President.

Serbian parliamentary and local elections were scheduled for 26 April, but due to the coronavirus epidemic, the country’s central election commission has decided to stop preparing for them until the end of the state of emergency. The electoral campaign is expected to resume following the end of the state of emergency on 7 May.

The number of cases of coronavirus infections in Serbia is 9,464 and the number of fatalities has increased to 193. Serbia has completely closed its borders and there is a curfew.
