The UN General Assembly President Tijani Muhammad-Bande said the world was in the midst of a crisis caused by the coronavirus infection COVID-19.
“Today, the global health system is under very strong pressure, trips around the world are suspended. We are in the middle of the crisis. Armed conflicts in the world must be stopped. The UN has called for a global ceasefire”, – TASS quoted him as saying.
According to him, the UN intends to end the COVID-19 pandemic and create a strong and sustainable system.
“Not a single state can cope with this difficult situation. The situation is not the same as before”, – he added.
Earlier, the United Nations announced a threat of famine of “biblical proportions” due to a pandemic.
