The Iranian Foreign Ministry believes the U.S. will not be able to extend the arms embargo against Tehran

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Musawi promised that if this issue appears on the UN Security Council’s agenda, “Iran will give an appropriate answer”.

The United States will not be able to renew the arms embargo on Iran, which expires in October. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Musawi expressed this view on Monday.

“With regard to U.S. efforts to extend the arms embargo, we hope that this issue will not be brought to the attention of the UN Security Council”, –  the Young Journalists Club quoted him as saying. – “However, in case it happens, Iran will give an appropriate answer”.

After its own release, Washington wants to destroy all the achievements of the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCAP), Musawi said.

“We are in close contact with the rest of the nuclear dealers and are confident that the new U.S. actions will not succeed”, –  he added.

U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said May 1 that Washington is ready to take any measures to prevent Tehran from acquiring Russian or Chinese armored vehicles after the embargo ends.

The New York Times reported April 26 that the U.S. intends to try to get the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution providing for the preservation of the arms embargo against the Islamic Republic on the basis of the OHRLLS. In accordance with the provisions of this document, which was signed by the permanent “five” UN Security Council and Germany with Iran in 2015, Tehran from October will be able to acquire weapons and military equipment from foreign suppliers.

On March 3, the Russian Foreign Ministry circulated a comment in which it noted that the UN Security Council is not talking about the extension of the arms embargo.
