Analysis of the activity of workers in the Russian defense industry is carried out using data from mobile phones.
The American edition of Defense One stated that using data obtained by the analytical company Orbital Insights using telephone signals, it was possible to establish that Russian defense plants allegedly slowed production against the backdrop of a coronavirus pandemic.
“Researchers use this data to establish a basic level of activity, and then look for deviations and violations,” the publication clarifies.
To track the activity of the Russian defense industry, machine learning and data mining were used on anonymous cell phone data received from partners. Allegedly, this allowed the United States to track the movements of Russians in almost real time.
