Trump says there is evidence of artificial origin of coronavirus

US President Donald Trump said that he has information that allows us to say that the laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan became the source of the coronavirus.

“Yes, I have”, – he said in response to a question if he had seen something for today that would allow him to say so with a high degree of confidence.

At the same time, the Head of the White House refused to disclose details, referring to secrecy.

This statement by Trump runs counter to a statement by the US National Intelligence Agency, whose office on Thursday said it agreed with the “broad consensus of scientists”, who believe that coronavirus is not artificial and has not been genetically modified.

Earlier, Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have repeatedly blamed China for the lack of transparency of data on the origin of the virus. The head of the Department of State repeatedly called on Beijing to report whether the virus could have “escaped” from a laboratory at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where dangerous infectious diseases are being studied.

The US president himself also stated that the American side is considering the version that the coronavirus COVID-19 originated in a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan, and intends to establish its origin. The American President threatened China with consequences if it turns out that Beijing deliberately allowed the outbreak of COVID-19.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Beijing from the very beginning had an open and responsible position regarding the publication of data on the epidemic of coronavirus infection.

The World Health Organization on March 11 announced an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 with a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, about 3.1 million cases of infection have been recorded in the world, more than 217 thousand people have died.
