The Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, General James McConville, said that the modernization of the military industry continues.
The U.S. intends to continue to test weapons despite the spread of coronavirus infection worldwide. The U.S. Army Chief of Staff, General James McConville, said at a teleconference Thursday organized by the Brookings Washington Institute.
“We are still conducting very successful hypersonic [weapons] tests, and we intend to conduct other tests”, – he said, when asked about the impact of the pandemic on military industry orders.
Despite the pandemic, the general said, the U.S. military industry continues to renew itself. “We see that modernization is continuing. We’re talking to testers, industry,” McConville said.
As U.S. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy noted during this conference, the issue of ensuring the continued supply of industrial products is a primary concern. “We are limited in our ability to return workers [at U.S. facilities abroad] to production. This is a strategic industry issue,” he said. – We have to decide how to find resources in the future. <…> We intend to go to the State Department to get employees back to work.
“Supply issues will remain a challenge for us for months to come”, – McCarthy said.
