Previously, an unknown man opened fire on the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C., causing no injuries but damage to the building.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla qualified the shooting on Thursday night of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Washington as a terrorist act. He made a statement to that effect on the country’s state television.
“In a meeting with the U.S. Charge d’Affaires a.i. in Havana, Mara Tekach, I expressed our strong protest against the terrorist act committed against the Cuban Embassy. I asked her how the U.S. government would respond to such an attack on any of its embassies”, – the chief said.
Earlier, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Chanel said he was waiting for the results of the investigation from the U.S. authorities and called for compliance with obligations to protect the diplomatic mission.
On Thursday night, an unknown man opened fire at the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C.. No one was injured, but the building was damaged. According to the police, a possibly associated SUV was parked next to the diplomatic mission, inside which an American flag and a white mask were found. U.S. law enforcement agencies have detained the shooter, but have not yet made public his motives.
The Cuban embassy in the United States was reopened in 2015 after the restoration of bilateral diplomatic relations between the countries under the previous American administration headed by former President Barack Obama.
