Criminals rush to power in Kosovo, political analyst believes

Former field commanders in Kosovo form a new government with the help of criminal political structures and are not afraid of a special international court in The Hague, director of the International Institute for the Study of the Middle East and the Balkans Ziyad Bechirovich told the reporters.

Former Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed republic of Kosovo and former field commander Ramush Haradinai on Wednesday signed a coalition agreement to create a new government with the largest opposition Democratic Union of Kosovo (DUK). At the end of March, the Kosovo parliament expressed no confidence in the cabinet of the leader of the Self-Determination movement Albina Kurti.

The Head of Kosovo, Hashim Thachi, on Wednesday demanded that the leader of the DUK Isa Mustafa propose a candidacy for the post of Prime Minister, he replied that he would soon submit the new government for approval by Parliament. It is expected that the new Prime Minister will be the same-party with Mustafa Avdulah Khoti.

“The criminal circles in Pristina are stronger than in any other country in Europe. This is shown by the situation in which they unconstitutionally dropped the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers Albina Kurti from power and want to form a new government of political and criminal structures”, – the director of the institute said.

As he says, according to the constitution of the self-proclaimed republic, it is impossible to give a mandate to form a cabinet to anyone other than the winner of the parliamentary elections or the coalition that was registered before the elections.

“If a vote of no confidence in the government is passed, early elections should take place in Pristina. But the criminal structures in Kosovo, which are symbolized by Taci, Haradinai, ex-speaker of the parliament Kadri Veseli and other ex-militants of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), are trying to take power again. Ex-Prime Minister Albin Kurti tried to confront them, and they politically dealt with him”, – Bechirovich said.

The political scientist noted that the former field commanders of the Albanian detachments are not particularly afraid of the Special Court for Crimes in Kosovo and Metohija formed in The Hague.

“They are now negotiating with political and criminal structures in the international community, it’s about corruption. Even before the last election, we pointed out that those politicians from the international community who visit Hashima Thaci are members of these criminal structures, are financed illegally. Kosovo remains a nest crime, trafficking in people and drugs and the like”, – the agency’s interlocutor emphasized.
