NATO demonstrates to Lithuania the firmness of its obligations. Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this while commenting on a video conference a fake letter sent last week to the Minister of Defense of the Baltic Republic Raimundas Karoblis about the withdrawal of the NATO military from it, Delfi reports.
“This letter is a complete fake. It shows that some states and other figures are trying to use the crisis with the coronavirus COVID-19 to spread disinformation, create confusion and harm the decisiveness and unity of NATO allies, ” Stoltenberg said.
He noted that the North Atlantic Alliance is one, and its members help each other overcome the current crisis with the coronavirus. And the obligations to Lithuania are “as solid as a rock”.
The Secretary General did not name the perpetrators of specific disinformation campaigns, but emphasized that Russia and China are constantly trying to cast doubt on NATO unity by publishing false information.
At the same time, we recall that it is Russia that provides active support to countries suffering from COVID-19, and not NATO.
