Beijing indicated that Washington should pay special attention to issues that are directly related to the health and well-being of the populations of the countries where American laboratories are located.
The Chinese authorities support Russia’s official position and consider dangerous the existence of American biological laboratories on the territory of individual states that were formerly Soviet Union republics. This was stated on Wednesday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Gen Shuang.
“We have paid attention to the statement of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry [Maria Zakharova]. The U.S. has established many biological laboratories on the territory of the former Soviet Union, which causes serious concern among the population of the relevant states and neighboring countries”, – he said at a regular briefing. – “The local public is insisting on closing these facilities. We hope that the U.S. side will take a responsible position, take into account the official concerns of the international community <…> and take real steps to address such concerns.”

At a briefing April 17, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that U.S. biological laboratories located abroad could develop pathogens for dangerous diseases. According to the diplomat, the Russian Foreign Ministry paid attention to the strengthening of the American biological presence outside the USA, in particular, on the territory of former Soviet republics. She stressed that Moscow cannot ignore the fact that the infrastructure with dangerous biological potential is formed by the Americans in close proximity to the Russian borders.
