Americans fear COVID-19 second wave more than economic collapse

Most Americans are convinced that restrictive measures in the fight against coronavirus must be maintained.

Americans fear COVID-19 second wave more than economic collapse

This is evidenced by the results of a sociological study of the publication Politico and Morning Consult.

According to the survey, 73% of respondents favor an extension of quarantine, despite the fact that it would seriously damage the economy of the United States. Only 15% of respondents spoke in favor of lifting restrictions under the threat of the second wave of the epidemic.

In particular, 79% of the survey participants are preparing for a new stage in the spread of coronavirus infection. They believe that the second wave of COVID-19 will overtake the United States “for sure” or “maybe.” Only 9% consider this unlikely.

Today, the United States remains the leader in the spread of coronavirus. The country has already recorded more than a million infected and almost 59 thousand deaths.
