State support in the U.S. has completely failed – those who needed it most have not received it

Millions of low-income American families are still waiting for help from the state. Only a quarter of all small businesses were able to get money from the federal program. Meanwhile, the agencies are unable to cope with the pressure of a coronary crisis.

This is reported by “The News York Times”.

As noted in the media, everything that the U.S. government has done so far has been insufficient. Some state programs are underfunded, while others have not been thought out. There is a shortage of staff at the federal and local levels. And all this leads to people who need help the most not getting it.

“Low-income households and small businesses tend to have less information about available assistance, less time to fill out forms, less experience with bureaucracy”, –  the publication notes.

Congress and the presidential administration considered that the best way to cope with unemployment is to “pour” it with money. Thus, at the end of March, benefits increased by $600. Only no one has solved the main problem: the employment service was overloaded and failed to cope with the tasks. For example, in New York, only 14.6% of the unemployed were able to successfully apply. Many self-employed people were also eligible for benefits, but only 10 states approve applications from them.

When the federal government announced a one-time payment of 1.2 thousand dollars, just over half of Americans were able to receive it. And the money didn’t reach exactly those who needed it – the poor. Due to their low income, 10 million American families did not file tax returns, which deprives them of the chance to receive state support.
The U.S. bankrupt will storm the courts – in the U.S. the situation was compared to a “tsunami”.

When Washington decided to automatically send checks to those who receive other benefits from the state, it turned out that such citizens need to fill out an online form, and gave them less than two days to do so.
In fact, only 1.6 million enterprises, i.e. about 26%, were actually able to benefit from the small business support program. Later it turned out that the money had run out, and large firms had received it.

“They were better equipped to prepare the necessary documents. Banks gave preference to companies that were already among their borrowers. JPMorgan, the largest bank in the country, has created two queues for registration, one of which is designed for large customers”, –  the publication notes.

Lawmakers, in turn, do not allocate enough money to meet the needs of business, and the new tranche, as previously reported by News Front, will be exhausted by the end of the week.
