Belgrade counts on the contribution of American companies in economic recovery, said President Aleksandar Vucic.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic discussed the development of economic cooperation between the two countries with US Ambassador to Belgrade Anthony Godfrey. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the Serbian leader.
“President Vucic briefed Ambassador Godfrey on the package of measures aimed at the recovery of the Serbian economy after the pandemic, stressing that he counts on the contribution of the American companies that are already operating on the Serbian market, and even more – on the future US investments. The two interlocutors expressed the expectation that economic cooperation between the countries will be strengthened, as well as cooperation in other areas of mutual interest, which were discussed during President Vucic’s visit to the United States in March this year”, – the report says.
At the same time, the document does not specify what kind of agreements we are talking about in March.
“Friends, who are Serbia and the United States, rely on each other even in difficult times, such as the period of pandemic”, – concluded the interlocutors.
Serbia’s foreign policy envisages maintaining friendly relations with Russia and China, as well as developing ties with the EU and the United States. Belgrade intends to maintain military neutrality by refusing to join NATO and other military blocs. This position is objectionable in the West: Serbia has been repeatedly made aware that European integration is possible only if two conditions are met – the recognition of Kosovo’s independence and the termination of friendly relations with Russia.
