Iranian President Rouhani said that Washington violates not only international law, but also international health rules.
During a telephone conversation with South African President Cyril Ramaposa, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that tougher US sanctions against Iran in the context of the coronavirus pandemic are in violation of international law.
“At a time when coronavirus is spreading around the world and there is a need to make adjustments to relations between states, the United States, unfortunately, is tightening its sanctions against the Iranian people. Washington violates not only the norms of international law, but also international health rules, preventing the dispatch of medical supplies to Iran, ”the Iranian leader said.
For his part, the president of South Africa, Ramapos, also emphasized the untimelyness of the measures taken by Washington against Tehran.
“At present, joint work is needed to counter the common enemy – the coronavirus. Now is the wrong time to create problems for people by imposing sanctions against them or exerting pressure on them,” said the President of South Africa.
